AML & KYC Policy
Financial crime is the reason crypto has a reputation problem. This is what we do about it — and what it means for you as a customer.
DRAFT — PENDING LEGAL REVIEW
1. Our stance
MonetisePay operates a compliance-first model: identity verification before service, screening before movement, monitoring throughout. This costs us customers who prefer anonymity. We consider that a feature.
2. Customer verification (KYC)
Before an account can transact we verify identity with government-issued documents and liveness checks, and screen against sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists. Enhanced due diligence — source-of-funds and source-of-wealth evidence — applies to higher-risk profiles and larger volumes.
3. Ongoing monitoring
Transactions are monitored against expected account behaviour. Blockchain analytics screen deposit sources and withdrawal destinations for exposure to sanctioned entities, darknet markets, mixers and known-theft funds. Alerts are reviewed by people, not just software.
4. When we must act
Where law requires, we file reports with the relevant financial-intelligence unit, freeze assets, or exit relationships — and we are generally prohibited from telling you a report was made (“tipping off”). Declined or delayed transactions sometimes have this cause, and we will not always be able to say so.
5. What we ask of you
- Provide truthful, current information — and updates when it changes.
- Use the account only for yourself; operating for unverified third parties is prohibited.
- Expect questions about unusual activity; prompt answers keep your account moving.
6. Records and training
Verification and transaction records are retained as AML law prescribes. Staff receive regular financial-crime training, and the programme is overseen by a designated compliance officer with authority independent of commercial targets.
